Nehru Zoological Park Hyderabad was established on 26 October, 1959 and is opened to public on 6-Oct-1963. This zoo is also called as Hyderabad Zoo.
Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad is covered 380 acres located near Mir Alam Tank, Bahadurpura in Hyderabad. (Mir Alam Tank is located off the Hyderabad-Bangalore Highway). This zoo is believed to be one of top three destinations of Hyderabad and one of the biggest zoos of India. This zoo is maintained by Forest Department of Andhra Pradesh. The zoo is named after India’s first Prime Minister ‘Jawaharlal Nehru’.

There are about 1200 animals and 100 different species in Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad. Various Animals, birds and reptiles are present in this zoo. Species like tigers, Lions, Chimpanzees, Panthers, white peacocks, Rhinoceros, mynahs, deer, tortoise, antelopes, crocodiles, python, gaur and various kinds of birds are present in Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad. African and Indian Lions, white tigers and normal tigers, black and White Panthers, wolves and jackals are some of the wonderful attractions of this great zoo.

A new facility of Battery operated car (go-karts) which can accommodate 10 people is now introduced in this Zoo which is charged at Rs.40 per person. A train track is also present in this zoo which takes you around zoo for Rs. 15 per person.

Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad also runs Jungle Safari in open top Jeep which is really exciting and gives a great experience to visitors. Also one can find Elephant ride and Maharaja Elephant ride in this zoo. The zoo is well maintained is a perfect spot for picnic with family. Kids really enjoy visiting the zoo and enjoy the nature at its best.

It is highly recommended to visit the zoo at 9pm and go around the zoo by walk to enjoy the beauty of this zoo.

– 16 Kms from Secunderabad Railway Station (50-60 minutes drive from Secunderabad)
– 7 Kms from MGBS Bus Stop (25 minutes drive from Nampally)

When to go: Anytime of the year but monsoon is the best time

Timings: General timings are 9 am to 5 pm. But timings change based on weather seasons. Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad is closed on Mondays.
