1) Nizam Osman Ali Khan Asaf Jah VII established a school in 1921 called as ‘City High School’. This school is converted to ‘City College Hyderabad’ in 1929. Currently the college is upgraded as a University which includes other 4 government colleges of Hyderabad

2) The current building of Government City College Hyderabad was built in 1919 in Indo-Islamic Style. The campus is spread over 16 acres on the banks of Musi River. The college building of City College Hyderabad is declared as Heritage building by the state government

3) The college building was designed by Vincent Esch, one of the prominent architects of the period, commissioned by the Nizam in between 1915-20 with a total outlay of Rs.8,36,919/-

4) The building has four imposing arched entrances and has been built around six courts. These small courtyard spaces provide both natural light and ventilation to the classrooms
