Hyderabad Public Gardens is an historical park which is also called as Bagh-e-Aam (meaning: People’s park). The park was started in the year 1848 during the rule of Nizams.
Hyderabad Public Gardens is the oldest park and one of the biggest parks of Hyderabad. The beauty of Public Gardens is its location. It’s located in the centre of the city in Nampally. There are many tourist spots and important buildings nearby Hyderabad Public Gardens like AP State Archeological Museum, AP State Legislature Assembly, Telugu Lalita Kala Thoranam, Jawahar Bal Bhavan, Indira Priyadarshini Auditorium and Jublee Hall. Also there is an old mosque in the park. The garden is well maintained and greenary prevails throughtout the year.
Hyderabad Public Gardens has become a major landmark in Hyderabad because of its location right in the center of the city. Many schools in Hyderabad organize school picnics to this park. Another importance of this park to become a favorite spot for school picnics is because of the two museums inside the park:
a. AP State Archeological Museum
b. Health Museum
In the year 1920, Nizam started AP State Archeological Museum in Hyderabad Public Gardens. Department of Agriculture and Horticulture are also located inside the public gardens. In this park, Jawahar Bal Bhavan organizes summer camps and fine art classes for kids. Also inside the park is Telugu Lalita Kala Thoranam which is known as a venue for film festivals, fashion shows, literature shows, etc.
Public Gardens attract lots of art lovers daily because of presence of AP State Archeological Museum in its premises.
