Mallela Theertham means the Jasmine stream in the local dialect, it has obviously got its name from the pure white colour of the water falls. It is one the most beautiful, and appealing waterfalls of Telangana located at a distance of 170 Kms from Hyderabad. It is curled up midst largest undisturbed dense forest known as Nallamalla hills. Mallela Theertham is one of the enthralling places in Telangana State. The downpour of showers are at the height of 150 feet and it flows through the Nallamalla forest range and gets one it to River Krishna. The Nallamala forest comprises the Nagarjuna Sagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve.
It is believed that many saints have performed penances here for God Shiva and God Shiva has himself appeared here to many of his devotees. It is believed that many tigers visit this place to drink water during summer.
To reach the downpour we need to travel down for about 350 steps to view the mild descending water.
Various other delightful activities which brings so much fun to the place are River crossing, Trekking, Sliding, and Camp Fire. It’s definitely a major Telangana Tourist attractions. Most of the people combine the trip of Mallela Theertham falls with the Srisailam Temple visit. It can also be made as a one day trip from Hyderabad.
Funny part Mallela Theertham is its a place of Monkey threat ! There are lot of monkeys but they do not disturb you unless you have some eatables with you.

Luckily this place has been maintained well by Telangana State Tourism board and well it attracts a good number of people for a peaceful journey to be remembered.
Seasonal Factors: Full flow of the waterfalls are usually during October to February. Sadly in summer months it is just a ooze among the Huge rocks.The best time we would suggest the waterfalls would be immediately post monsoon till around November to December.
How to reach the Mallela Theertham Waterfalls ?
By Road : If you are travelling from Hyderabad, you have to cross the Munnanur Forest check post and proceed upto 10-15 kms until you reach a small village junction called Vatavarlapalli. The straight road takes you to Srisailam, take your left to Mallelatheertham. If you look closely, in one corner of the road, iron board with directions to the waterfall.The falls are closed after 6 PM. The woods become deserted and dark, it is not safe to stay here after sunset.
By train: Nearest Railway station to the waterfalls is Mahabubnagar station is around 138 Kms.
By Air : Rajiv Gandhi international airport at Shamshabad is the nearest airport for Mahabubnagar district.

– There are no stalls selling food/water, advisable to carry a bottle of water, will be of help while climbing back.
– Beware of monkeys if you are carrying food packets.
