Sangameshwar temple is an ancient Lord Shiva Temple located in Somasila of Mahbubnagar district of Telangana state. It is one of the major tourist attractions of Mahabubnagar district and one of the ancient temples of Telangana. It is said that the temple is shifted from Sangameshwar to Somasila in order to avoid drowning in River Krishna.
Presiding Deity:
Presiding deity in the temple is Lord Shiva in the form of Shiva Lingam. This ancient temple is believed to be built 200 years ago and there are 15 temples housing Shiva Lingas in and around Sangameshwar temple.
Important Events of the Temple:
– One of the most auspicious days of worshipping Lord Shiva is Maha Shivarathri and Karthika Masam. And in Sangameshwar temple these festivals are celebrated with heartiness. Thousand of devotees visit this during these during these festivals. In Telangana, this temple is considered as one of must should temples to visit during Shivarathri.
– Importantly, Pushkaras are celebrated in very grand manner. Pushkara snanam is considered to be the most sacred dip taken in River Krishna.Pushkar Snanam during the Krishna Pushkaram, which occurs once in 12 years, is considered be very auspicious and it draws major crowd during the season. Many special poojas are held during this season.There is also belief that if any devotee who visits these temples, he/she completes darshan of 12 Shivlingas located all over in India.

Architecture of the Sangameshwar Temple:
– The temple has many form of Shiva Lingas inside. Looking deep into the architecture it is made up of many pillars. And the shrines denotes the architectural skills of the Telangana .
As the temple has very beautiful landscape, it also known as a picnic spot. More number of pilgrims visit during the festive seasons and many pilgrims are said to come from Karnataka and Maharashtra .

The Temple is under the State Archeological Department and the temple is maintained by Grama Committee.

How to reach:
By Road :
Pilgrims can reach the place from Pebber ( NH -7 ) or Vanaparthy . The temple is located about 10 kms from Kollapur, 65 km from Pebber (NH-7) and 60 km from Vanaparthy. It is about 120 km from Mahabubnagar. Frequent private buses are available from Kollapur.
By Train :
Nearest railway station is located at Gadwal, which is about 95 km away.
By Air :
Nearest Airport is located at Shamshabad (Hyderabad).

There is no accommodation facility available in the region . Pilgrims can stay in Kollapur or Vanaparthy where many
lodging facilities available. Mostly pilgrims visit the temple only for a day.
